Principal's Report
Our School and Community connections have been identified as one of our ‘School Improvement Drivers’ on our 2022 – 2024 Burnie Primary School Strategic Plan. We provide various ways of interacting with our school and wider community and another such avenue has recently been released. Our ‘Official’ Burnie Primary School Facebook page has been released and can be accessed at Burnie Primary School | Facebook . Please ensure you follow and like our ‘official’ page to keep up to date with the latest news from our School Community. This Facebook page will be used for general announcements, information and upcoming events. We also use 2 other on-line platforms to enhance communication here at Burnie Primary.
The SeeSaw app has proved very successful over the past 3 years in providing an avenue to share student learning and to provide a line of communication directly with your child’s teacher. It also provides us with a platform to share evidences of your child’s learning that is aligned with the Australian Curriculum, and is an important component in the new Department of Education’s ‘Reporting learning progress to Families’ document.
The Schoolzine app provides you with a tool to communicate with the school on operational matters such as delivering specific messages and for you to contact the school for aspects such as reporting student attendance. Please continue to contact the school about absences either via the Schoolzine app, email burnie.primary@education.tas.gov.au or by phoning 64333 655. If your child is absent for more than 2 days, we require a medical certificate or Statutory Declaration that can be obtained from the front office.
Burnie Primary School is in the unique position to be able to offer our students from Kinder to Grade 6 the opportunity to engage in our Swimming and Water Awareness programs. The Kinder to Grade 2 program will be held in the last 2 weeks of this term, indoors, at the Burnie Aquatic Centre. Can you please ensure that the permission forms are returned to school ASAP so that we can start to organise groupings around ability levels to ensure that the learning is tailored to your child’s ability in the water?
To help with planning for school improvement, the DoE is about to release the ‘School Satisfaction Surveys'. Students, staff and parents will be asked to complete a survey about Burnie Primary School to help inform our planning for school improvement. We encourage all parents and carers to complete the survey to help inform our practice at https://ncv.microsoft.com/y5tPT4Mg2r to help inform our practice. We are always learning about new ways to enhance the quality teaching and learning here at Burnie Primary School!
