Principal's Report
Understanding the learning needs for students as 21st century learners is essential for us as educators to plan for the attributes our learners will need to be lifelong learners. This certainly reinforced our vision for Burnie Primary School.
Collaborative, creative and innovative learning community.
Most innovations come as a result of people collaborating together, in some cases with people from the other side of the world. We will continue to see a real focus on problem-solving and the skills and attributes that we can learn to help in the problem solving process. This requires learners to be able to work collaboratively, but also with resilience to understand the importance of making and learning from mistakes. We want students to think deeply about concepts and design solutions to problems. This year we have been excited at the depth of student understanding in student learning and this sets us up for an empowering year in 2023 where we will be targeting student engagement to become connected, resilient, creative and curious thinkers. Some see creativity in the arts, but we will also be acknowledging creative problem solvers in Maths, English and other curriculum areasas well as socially in the classroom and playground. Teaching students the social skills to be able to solve problems peacefully will continue to be a focus. Wellbeing will also form a goal for Burnie Primary School.
A fantastic afternoon was had by all who attended our School Socials yesterday. Thanks to the Parent Group who continue to provide opportunities for us to get together as a school community. This event is one of many planned for students before the end of the school year, including the Grade 3/4 Sports Expo on today, various upcoming excursions and our Athletics Carnival on the 8th December.
As part of our planning for next year, it is important for us to make an accurate prediction as to the number of students who will be attending Burnie Primary School next year. If you know that you will not be here or you know of families that will be moving into our area, can you please let us know as soon as possible so we can ensure that we cater for every single student's success in 2023.
