Principals Report

Student Agency and Voice at Burnie Primary School

We have 2 key ‘all year’ elected Leadership opportunities for Grade 6 students: Student Council and Sports Leader positions. Our student leaders prepared for leadership nominations and the election process in 2022 through choosing to nominate for one of the positions and preparing a speech that was for the 3 to 6 student group and accompanying staff.  Students were elected by the combined voting results of Grades 4 to 6 students and all school staff. Our Year 6 leaders work closely with Miss Smith, Ms Crabtree and Mrs Smith to develop their personal leadership capacity.

I would like to personally congratulate our 2023 Student Leaders for their courage and aspiration in stepping forward this year

This week our new Term 1 ‘Application to Learning Reports’ will be sent home. This report provides families with a summary of each child’s learning habits and engagement in their class so far this year.

If you have any questions, or would like to discuss this report please make contact with your child's classroom teacher via seesaw.  We value regular, meaningful conversations about learning achievement, progress and student wellbeing because we know this is key to support and grow our partnerships with all families.

Staffing Update

We continue to have some staffing changes this term. Assistant Principal, Kerryn Duncan will continue her period of leave through to the end of Term 2. We would like to express our thanks and best wishes to Miriam Ennis who will be transferring to Parklands High School, after a short period of service to Burnie Primary School. We congratulate and welcome Miss Emma Sterta who has commenced at our school as our Education Support Specialist and we welcome Paul Vardy to Burnie Primary School as our Digital Technologies and Art specialist teacher.
