5-6 NWPSSA Athletics
On Thursday 9th of March 23 students in grade 5/6 went along to the North-West Primary School Sports Association (NWPSSA) 5/6 Athletics Carnival in Penguin. Students excitedly hopped on a bus to travel to Penguin and were aspirational about the day ahead. The weather was cold, breezy and a little wet, but all students were in high spirits as they got onto the track and field for their first events. All our students represented Burnie Primary School with pride and cheered each other on during the races. The highlight of the day was the circular relays which we had been practising in PE, with students eager to put their practice to work. I would like to congratulate all the students who participated in the field events on the day for showing courage as many hadn’t done the event before. I’d like to thank Paige Aitken for giving up her lunch time to support our two grade 5 shot put throwers in some training on Wednesday before the carnival. I’d also like to thank all the parents who came to support the students and who assisted myself and Mrs Hyland on the day. Special mention to Lucas Hyland who came second in a very close Grade 5 Boys Long Jump event, and Indigo Nott-Hage who came second in her Grade 6 Girls 800m final. All the students who attended should be proud of their efforts, and I wish those who made the Twilight Carnival on April 3rd all the best.
Congratulations to the following students who were selected to attend twilights:
Lucas, Milla, Quaide, Indigo, Oscar, Louis & Penny.
