Our school is unquestionably such a wonderful place to be because of all the extra and additional effort that our caring staff, families and community members do. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for making Burnie Primary School a supportive environment where our children feel safe and have many opportunities to thrive.

Lifting Off
Our Term 2 LIFT event was a HUGE success! I was lucky enough to visit each classroom, and I was truly impressed with the number of families that were able to join us. Our school was a hive of activity with a buzz of excitement from room to room. Here is a snapshot of what our students thought of open classrooms. We had over 220 very important people attend! Thank you!

Learning Conversations @BPS
Our Learning Conversations will be held next week, from Monday 19th of June to Thursday 22nd of June. Bookings for Kindergarten to Year 6 can be made now by either

  1. Clicking on this link https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/ParentTeacherMeeting@tasedu.onmicrosoft.com/bookings/
  2. or by contacting our School Administration Office either by phone on 64 333 655 or in person and they will access the link for you.

Our online way of booking allows for ‘self-booking’ of appointments and direct email notification to confirm your bookings. It is intended to streamline the process for all involved (teachers and parents/carers) to negotiate and coordinate family bookings. If you require any support or assistance in accessing this way of booking appointments, then please make contact with us, as we are here to help and it’s new for all of us.

Please arrive 15 minutes to collect your child’s report from our office prior to your conversation. We invite you to make your way to our Makers Space for some light refreshments while you read your child’s report and wait for your booking time.  We love talking with you about your child. The more teachers know the more they can support them in their learning. Let’s work together so that your child can get the most out of school.

Celebrating Student Success
Last week, I was so proud of our school community.  I had the privilege of attending the NWPSSA Cross Country Carnival. Our team were magnificent, and they represented themselves, and their school, with great enthusiasm, respect, and kindness. There was not one of our team who didn’t give their very best in all their races and they were all gracious whether they won or lost. Overall in Division A our school placed 3rd, We congratulate all the following students for their efforts at this event:

Grade 3: Micah Dicker, Storm McCulloch, Skylar Hamlyn, Alexis Sweetman, Ariana Walters, Andy Hunter, Julian Cabanzo Gomez, Isaiah Popowski , Ash Short and Lachlan Duff.

Grade 4: Murphy Bain, Chelsea Duff, Siharna Dunham, Huntah Murphy, Willow Howard, Kayden Riley, Zarin Harper, Jovi Hill, Torben Jensen and Kai Tamura-Harvey.

Grade 5: Ella Moore, Penny Sanderson, Storm Short, Scarlett Rossiter, Louis Stretton, Sashan Shreshan, Archie McGregor, Lucas Hyland and Ashton Walters.

Grade 6:Hudson Bain, Oscar Warsing, Edward Lee, Kobi Skvaril, Malik Radford, Indigo Nott-Hage, Sari Armstrong, Paige Aitken, Molly Stafford and Milla Dicker.

An honourable mention to these students who placed in the top 5 for their age and gender group: Kaden Riley 2nd, Zarin Harper 4th , Louis Stretton 1st and Indigo Nott-Hage 1st.
