Principal's Report

Barnard_Susan.jpg

I am delighted to announce that I will be continuing in my role as Acting Principal for the remainder of 2023. I am most fortunate to have the opportunity to continue our journey together, ensuring the best educational opportunities  for our learners.

We are very much looking forward to hosting our Big Breakfast tomorrow morning. Miss Filder and the LIFT team have been very busy preparing for this special event and are ready to 'flip' over 200 pancakes ...
We hope you can join us. Doors open in our JMC at 8:30 am!

Book Week…
Last week’s Book Week parade was such a wonderful celebration for our whole school.  Throughout the week students were able to participate in a range of activities that further reinforced the joy of reading. Our Library Leaders also thoroughly enjoyed their lunch-time duties in the library. A huge thank you to Miss Alanna Smith and Mrs Wendy Crabtree for facilitating such a wonderful week and to all students and teachers for their contributions. Make sure you pop into our library to view this years shortlisted items.

Every school day matters.
Even just missing one day a fortnight can mean your child misses up to a year and half of their education, between Kindergarten and Year 12.

See what happens when your child misses...

1 day each fortnight = 20 days per year = 4 weeks per year and therefore, from Kindy to Year 12, that is nearly 1 1⁄2 years of school. This means the best they can achieve is equal to finishing Year 11.

1 day a week = 40 days per year = 8 weeks per year and therefore, from Kindy to Year 12, that is 2 1⁄2 years of school. This means the best they can achieve is equal to finishing Year 10.

2 days a week =80 days per year = 16 weeks per year and therefore, from Kindy to Year 12, that is nearly 5 years of learning missed. This means the best they can achieve is equal to finishing Year 7.

3 days a week = 120 days per year = 24 weeks per year and therefore, from Kindy to Year 12, that is nearly 8 years of learning missed. This means the best they can achieve is equal to finishing Year 6.

The 2023 School Satisfaction Surveys are coming!

Every year the Department of Education conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve.

We would be grateful if you completed our online survey about Burnie Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school-planning and decision-making.

The survey is open from Monday 28 August 2023 until Friday 22 September 2023 and should take about 5 minutes to complete.

Take the online survey by clicking this link, or pasting it in your browser: https://ncv.microsoft.com/qCYraHEebw

The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential.

All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department of Education staff.

Please contact your school if you require any assistance.

Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.

Planning for 2024
