Cross Country NWPSSA Team

NWPSSA Cross Country

Yesterday, Wednesday the 5th of June, our cross country team set out to compete in the North West Primary Schools Sports Association Cross Country Championships. This event includes all the school in the North West of the state including schools from King Island and the West Coast. Our students displayed our school values of Best Effort and Positive in a challenging event. Also the way our students encouraged and supported each other was terrific to see.

Whilst it is the participation and trying your best that is the most important aspect, we should celebrate the fact that we finished in 3rd place in A Division. (Schools are placed in divisions depending on the amount of students attending the school) which is an outstanding effort.

The team included:

Grade 4 Boys; Joshua Butcher, Oliver Rattray, Nash Armstrong, Ryan Dick and Huon Nott-Hage

Grade 4 Girls; Amarli Palmer, Bronte Riley, Addison Bester, Jana Abushamleh and Pay Sangcumrit

Grade 5 Boys; Xander Kirkland, Taj Halton, Noah Hardy, Michael Silby and Ethan Mott

Grade 5 Girls; Ava Ferguson, Anastasia Smedley, Lily Pease, Bridie Smith and Rhiannon Miles

Grade 6 Boys; Bruce Ross, Jaylen Bryan, Jonty Hayes, Lachlan Butcher and Lewis Rattray

Grade 6 Girls; Briana Ross, Indi-Mae Armstrong, Savannah Dynan, Grace Clarke and Ella Scolyer

Unfortunately Ava Ferguson was unable to participate on the day, due to illness.

Whilst this is a team event, we did have some outstanding individual results on the day including: Joshua Butcher 12th (Grade 4 Boys) , Oliver Rattray 10th   (Grade 4 Boys) Nash Armstrong 7th  (Grade 4 Boys), Amarli Palmer 14th  (Grade 4 Girls),  Pay Sangcumrit 22nd (Grade 4 Girls), Xander Kirkland 15th (Grade 5 Boys), Indie-Mae Armstrong 6th (Grade 6 Girls), Jaylan Bryan 13th (Grade 6 Boys), Briana Ross 8th (Grade 6 Girls) and Bruce Ross 4th (Grade 6 Boys). Remembering that there would be at least 120 runners in each race!
