5/6 Sports Day
Earlier this term the Grade 5 and 6 students attended the annual 5/6 Sports Day that is run by the North West Primary School Sports Association (NWPSSA). Students could select a sport with encouragement being given to try something different to what they regularly play. The sports that were available were: AFL (Boys and Girls), Netball, Basketball, Soccer, Hockey, Tennis and King of the Court (a variation of volleyball).
Following the sports day, students were selected from all schools to represent this region in the annual Devon v Darwin competition (Darwin being our region and Devon being the region of Ulverstone, Latrobe, Devonport etc.). Students selected for the Darwin Team from Burnie Primary were: Malik, Hudson, Louis, Ella Moore, Aneeka, Storm, Tori (AFL), Penny (Hockey), Sushan, Molly (Soccer), Rhani, Darcey, Taylor, Milla, Claire, Zoe, Scarlett, Indigo, Lily (Netball).
Following the Devon v Darwin Day, students were then selected from the teams to form a combined North West Team to compete against teams from the Launceston region in the Launceston Exchange Sports Day. The students who were selected for the NW teams were: Aneeka, Storm (AFL), Penny (Hockey), Sashan, Molly (Soccer), Darcey, Milla, Zoe, Indigo, Lily (Netball).
Thankyou to all students who participated and congratulations to students who were selected in the representative teams. In term 4 we look forward to the Grade 3/4 Sports Day which is also run by the NWPSSA.
