Jon Madin’s Visit to B.P.S.
On Monday, 3rd June and Tuesday, 4th June, Jon Madin visited our school. Jon Madin is a musician from the mainland who makes his own instruments. Some of the things he uses to make his instruments includes old bikes, old barrels, tubes, pumps, beat boxes and wooden shapes to make echo cellos.
Students in Grade 3, 4 and 5 each had a music lesson with Mr Madin and Mrs Matthews, where they learnt to play some of his wacky instruments. By the end of each classes’ lesson we had an item ready to share and play in the school concert in the afternoon.
All classes attended the concert and had a wonderful time joining in with lots of classes’ performances. We thought it was an amazing concert and it was unique to think that home-made instruments could make such wonderful music.
