Principal's Report
Dear Families, Students and Friends,
Welcome to our second edition of Schoolzine for 2024. This edition is all about you! We know the more parents/carers engage in learning, the greater the chance that their children are engaged, motivated and confident learners. We also know, families are the first and most important influence, inspiration and support for our children and young people. At Burnie Primary School we commit to building and nurturing relationships with families to connect wellbeing and learning at home and school. My door is always open, if you have any questions, wonderings or concerns, please come and see me. Our teachers are contactable via Seesaw between the hours of 8.30 am and 4.00 pm, or alternatively, please call our admin team to make a time with your child’s teacher. Our specialist teachers and leadership team are also available and again, please contact our admin team to make an appointment. We do hope that you found time to join us for our special events this week! We look forward to providing more opportunities to partner throughout the year.
One way you can get involved in our school community and contribute to helping our learners succeed is by joining our School Assocation Committee. Our Annual General Meeting will be held Wednesday 20 March from 6 – 7 pm. For more information please contact our office.

Thank you to all families who were able to join our welcome BBQ yesterday afternoon! This event provided a great opportunity to connect with your child’s classroom teacher, staff and other families in our Burnie Primary community. It was terrific to see so many smiles, conversations and games being played outside – just before the thunder and rain came down! Parent-school partnerships are one of the best ways to support your child’s learning, development and wellbeing. At Burnie Primary we value these partnerships and welcome and encourage you to make contact at any time throughout the school year to discuss your child’s needs.
We thank Miss Jess Fidler for her organisation of this event and our volunteers from Rotary for preparing and serving on the evening.

3-6 Running Carnival – Monday 26th February
Thank you to everyone who joined us to support Monday’s School Athletics Carnival. We encouraged ‘all’ to participate fully in the day’s events with a ‘personal best’ sporting focus.
Well done to everyone – such enthusiasm was clearly on display from all competing children, family spectators and all staff… with everyone putting in their best effort!
A special ‘Thank You’ to our Education Facility Attendant Mr Chris Cullen for his huge efforts to prepare and set-up for the event and well done to Miss Geard, Mrs Rawlings and Miss Smith for organising such a wonderful day!
From our school event, champion runners from Grades 3 to 6, will be selected to represent us early next month at the North West Primary Schools Athletics events at Penguin.
Upcoming Assembly’ – save the date!
Another opportunity for you to partner with us is at our first assembly for 2024. We warmly invite you to our Prep to Year 2 sharing assembly on Thursday the 7th March at 1.30 pm in our JMC.
