Celebrating the Value of Responsibility
Our Grade 3 - 6 students have been sharing their knowledge and understanding of 'Rights and Responsibilities' as part of their morning meetings. Below are some of their ideas they shared at the last meeting:
- Our right is to feel safe. Our responsibility is to tell a trusted adult about our safety.
- Our right is to have a good life. Our responsibility is to exercise so we can have a good life.
- Our right is to communicate with people around us. Our responsibility is to communicate if we are sick or hurt.
- Our right is to be able to drink clean water. Our responsibility is to keep hydrated.
- Our right is to be able to grow. Our responsibility is to be able to enjoy every moment.
- Our right is to share our opinion. Our responsibility is to let everyone have an opinion and talk.
- Our right is to be able to learn at school. Our responsibility is to listen and not talk over the teacher.

Prep A and Prep B have been investigating what 'you have the right to play and rest'. Below are the important messages they shared at the EC Values Morning Meeting:
What does this mean?
- People can choose to join in games.
- People can leave a game if they want to.
- Let people join in with us.
- Don't follow people if they want to do something else.
What does it look like?
- Not being bossy or mean.
- Including everyone in our games.
- Everyone will be feeling happy.
What is the responsibility of the teacher?
Help to solves our problems if we can't.
What is the responsibility of the students?
- We could stop and explain the rules if people don't understand or are bossy.
- Lsten to each other and be respectful.
- We try and talk to our friends about our problems before asking the teacher.
Congratulations to all students who have shown Responsibility and received a Values Token in the last fortnight!
