This term, many of our students have been participating in the Burnie City Council Eisteddfod. Students have recently had the opportunity to write their own original poems to submit to a panel of judges. Well done to all students that submitted their poems and Burnie Primary has now received the following results:

Grade 2:
3RD Place medallion to: Keneisha

Grade 3:
1st place medallion to:  Kiarah

Highly commended ribbon to:  Rema & Billie B.

Grade 4:
Highly commended ribbons to:  Isaiah, Mackinley C and Kenzie

Grade 5:
1st place medallion to:  Chloe
2nd place medallion to:  Willow
3rd place medallion to: Chelsea

Highly commended ribbons to:  Kaden and Agniz

Grade 6:
1st place medallion to:  Amelia
2nd place medallion to:  Eva
3rd place medallions to:  James & Maya

Highly commended ribbon to:  Heidi

Awards are also presented to the most outstanding poem in each grade. Kiarah wrote her poem titled ‘I am Kiarah’ and won the award for Most Outstanding Poem in Grade 3!

There is also an award for the Most Outstanding Poem across  Prep to Grade 6 titled ‘The Richard Flanagan Literacy Award’.  Out of the 923 poems submitted from North West schools and Kiarah’s poem has been chosen as the overall winner!
