Celebrating the Value of Courage
Courage is accepting challenges and embracing opportunities.
This term, students have been learning that courage is about being Brave. Stepping out of your comfort zone to try something new is being brave. Sometimes situations can cause us to have feelings such as butterflies in the stomach, wobbly knees, shaky hands and wanting to run away and hide. In order to be courageous sometimes you may feel scared. Some strategies that students have learnt so far include taking some deep breaths and telling ourselves 'I can do it'.
At our recent primary morning meeting students shared the following thoughts about courage.
Courage is...
- Trying new things.
- Admitting mistakes.
- Asking for help.
- Apologising when necessary.
- Working through challenges.
- Encouraging acts of courage helps create a positive and supportive school environment where everyone feels safe and valued.
- Facing your fears and doing what is right.
- It's being uncomfortable and finding your own way through that by doing hard things and making hard decisions.
Congratulations to all students who received a Courage token.
