Burnie Primary School Play Pod
At Burnie Primary School we are establishing a Play Pod in our school playground.
A Play Pod is a collection of loose parts that children use to play, create, invent and construct with at playtimes.
Loose parts are items that can be used in a multitude of ways and are not specific for their purpose. These include pallets, pipes, planks of wood, cable reels, rope, netting, buckets, tyres …. The list is endless.
This type of play experience is a core component of the Australian Curriculum and is a major focus for our STEAM curriculum in our school. Loose Parts play allows our students to develop essential life skills such as problem solving, innovation, hand-eye co-ordination, creativity, collaboration and leadership. Play using recycled and reusable items also helps our students to understand important concepts such as recycling and sustainability.
We are being supported in establishing the Play Pod by our school Parents and Friends. However, we are also seeking support from our school community in order to provide the resources for this exciting new learning opportunity.
We would sincerely appreciate your support via a donation of any of the following items:

· Natural treasures such as pine cones, shells, feathers etc, · Fabric · Tarpaulins · Milk crates · Cable reels · Tubes · Guttering · Funnels · Hosepipe · Netting · Tyres – all sizes · Trays · Trolleys · Hard hats · Gloves · Large rocks

· Wheelbarrows · Suitcases · Baskets · Steering wheels · Dress ups · Temporary fencing · Ropes · Karabiners · Pegs · Baking trays – muffin and cake tins · Utensils · Carpet off-cuts · Tape · Pulleys · Witches hats · Pots and Pans

Any of these items can be delivered to school in the sealed area outside Grade 2 before school. Please see the office if delivering a big load.
