Principal's Report
I have been so proud and privileged to be part of the student learning and achievements at Burnie Primary School! Great students taught by talented and dedicated teachers with strong support from you as parents and carers. The perfect recipe for student success! This success relies on the partnerships we have in student learning, which have certainly been enhanced earlier this term and which we are looking to build upon throughout the year and beyond. Teachers have been preparing student reports ready to go home on Friday 26th June, with the last week of term allowing us to have any Parent/Teacher discussions as required and requested this year. The report itself is also a modified format this year as directed by the Minister for Education, and we will provide more information on the reporting format in the next newsletter.
Best effort is one of the expectations we have of all learners at Burnie Primary School. That was certainly exemplified in the efforts of all participants at our Whole School virtual assembly that we viewed as a school yesterday. With the current restrictions still not allowing for a full whole school assembly, the Student Representative Council have identified a way for us to still have what they see as an important whole school event, and to provide an opportunity for students to share their learning and be recognised for their achievements. The items were all recorded individually and we watched the whole event yesterday from the comfort of our own classrooms. Congratulations to our SRC. Just another example of our learners being part of a collaborative, creative and innovative learning community.
We certainly value the parent involvement we have here at Burnie Primary School. Our Parent engagement strategy has been given a turbo boost in the last few months as we look at what parent engagement actually is, and how it can enhance student learning. This is just one of the items on our School Association agenda on next Tuesday 23rd June, after our AGM. We will use this opportunity to also discuss the valuable role the P&F play in our school community and will then be in the position to announce when the next P&F meeting will take place.
