Australian Mathematics Competition
This year, Burnie Primary School will be participating in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) on August 3 2020. We’d love for your child to participate. These are voluntary competitions so your child’s participation is not compulsory.
The competition aims to be accessible to all students from grade 3 to 6, not just the mathematically gifted. There is an emphasis on problem solving, a valuable life skill, and the questions are designed to be fun for the student. The AMC consists of separate papers, presented for the first time this year online. There are 30 questions in Middle Primary (Years 3 & 4) and Upper Primary (Years 5 and 6). The time allowed is 60 minutes. In order to prepare students for the AMC there are practice problems and solutions available at www.amt.edu.au
If you wish for your child to participate, please collect a consent form from the office and return with the subsidised entry fee of $5 to the office no later than Monday July 20th to ensure registration of your child.
If you have any questions about the AMC please contact Mr Ben Johnston at school or via email ben.johnston@education.tas.gov.au
