Principal's Report

As we rapidly head towards the end of Term 3 it is a great time to reflect on what has been a year of change, new experiences and learnings. As we move into Term 4, our students will be engaging in the inevitable change in their schooling life. Our grade 6 students will fully engage in their transition to high school and the next exciting step in their learning and lives. Students from all other grades will be preparing for their transition to a new grade, new teachers and new learning opportunities. An exciting part of Term 4 is the start of our pre-kinder program for all the young people who will be attending their first year of schooling. As a school staff we will be doing all we can to ensure that your child’s transition to the next phase of their learning journey is a safe and positive one.

This week has been Fire Education Week at Burnie Primary. Craig Machen from the Tasmanian Fire Service has been at the school working with students from Prep to Grade 6 on how to keep themselves and families safe. Please take the time to have a conversation with your child around what they have learnt and the advice they have to help keep your homes safe. For further information regarding the Tasmanian Fire Service you can visit fire.tas.gov.au or ttseducation.com.au

As a sign off I would like to give a massive thank you to our cleaning staff at Burnie Primary School. The work they have undertaken and continue to carry out during this Covid-19 pandemic has been nothing short of amazing. They have worked tirelessly to keep our school clean, hygienic and your children safe. They do so with a smile on their face and a ‘can-do’ attitude. The respect our students show for our cleaning staff is a reflection of the time, kindness, effort and respect that our cleaning staff provide to the children. To Rachel, Ange, Margaret, Mel and Ann.... Thank you!
