Grade 4 - Digital Workshop
On Tuesday 7th September, 4H joined a digital workshop with the author and illustrator Alison Lester. She was sharing her techniques for creating a picture book. The reason the workshop was held in September was to raise awareness about the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Indigenous Literacy Day is held on 1st September. The purpose of this day is to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, stories and language. We enjoyed learning how to sketch a character from her book, ‘The Very Noisy Baby’. Alison Lester shared many interesting ideas and reminded us to ‘never give up!’. Did you know, Alison Lester has been writing and illustrating books for nearly 60 years! We liked her positive and cheerful attitude while she was sharing her skills. Her voice was very calming. We enjoyed listening to her and are inspired to make our own books. She also encouraged us to help others by sharing our passions and talents! These are some photos of our drawings. Our classroom display also shows our postcards summarising a season.
