We have had two fantastic Cross-Country events. Last week was our Prep to Grade 6 event and yesterday was our Kinder Cross Country. The event highlighted how well our students do at following our school expectations of Best Effort and Positive behaviours. It was also wonderful to see families come and encourage all our students. A big thank you to all our staff and volunteers who helped ensure both days ran smoothly.
Ulverstone Cross Country
Congratulations to the students who have been selected to represent our school at the interschool cross country in Ulverstone next week. If any parents of students attending, who have a WWVP card, would like to help on the day, please contact either Mrs Liz Fidler who is accompanying the 3/4 team or Ms Rochelle Cunningham who is accompanying the 5/6 team.

Cross Country Event with photos
After having to postpone our Prep - Grade 6 Cross Country Carnival due to inclement weather on Thursday 20 May we had an exceptional day of weather on Friday 21May.
Our students participated with great courage and determination over a long distance and challenging course, particularly the Grades 4 - 6 students who ran out of the school and into Hellyer, I believe the Hellyer Hill was a challenge for many coming towards the end of the race. It was great to see how supportive our students are of each other encouraging and cheering on all runners regardless of their position in the race. All students who participated and gave their all are winners to me as it is the ethic of doing your best that is most important.
It was fantastic to have parents back for these carnivals as I know that the students were excited and it certainly adds to the atmosphere of these types of events.

On Wednesday 19 May 2021, Burnie Primary School held their launch event for The Fathering Project at the Burnie Surf Club. We are excited to be the first school in Tasmania to engage in this initiative.
We were fortunate to have Rodney Eade, ambassador for The Fathering Project, join us live via Teams to facilitate the event. As a result of the launch we are now well on the way to forming our Burnie Primary Dads' group. Dads' Groups can help build your school community, and benefit children, fathers and families. The Dads Groups are run by dads, for dads – to engage, belong and learn.
If you haven’t already, please become a member of our Dad’s group via the QR code posted below. This gives you access to a great deal of helpful information and it's also a way whereby we can contact you as a group about events.
Our next event is for Dads and children with more information on this coming your way very soon.
If you require any further information, please contact the school on 64333655.
