The calendar for Term 3 has been updated with some exciting events! August 23 -27 is Book Week and on Wednesday, August 25 we will having our Dress Up Parade. I’m looking forward to seeing which is the most popular book character at BPS! There will be more information about the parade in the next newsletter.
Students from Prep to Grade 6 are attending Burnie High School's production, ‘Sleeping Beauty’ on September 10. We are looking forward to supporting our local high school. More information will be sent home closer to the date.
Winter is definitely still with us, and to help keep us warm in the playground Burnie Primary now has school beanies! The beanies look fantastic and are lovely and warm. They are $12 and available for purchase from the front office. One size fits all.....
Attendance
It is important that your child feels connected to the school and their class whilst they are convalescing. If a student has been away for two consecutive days the teacher will touch base with the family on the third day. This is a way to support your child to stay connected. This may be a phone call, or via seesaw message. If you would like support before then, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the office.
If your child is away for more than two consecutive days we ask that you provide the school with a medical certificate or statutory declaration. A statutory declaration form is available from the front office.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
Assembly
Our first assembly for Term 3 is on Thursday 19 August at 1:30pm. Families of award recipients will be contacted prior to the assembly to join us in celebrating their child’s achievements.
Student Wellbeing Survey
The Student Wellbeing Survey will be available for all grade 4-6 students to participate in from Monday August 30 - Friday September 3 2021. This survey provides us with valuable information about how we can better support your child’s learning and wellbeing. More information is included in this newsletter.
Kinder 2022
If your child was born in 2017 you can enrol them now for Kinder 2022! Please contact the school office if you are unsure when your child starts their Kinder year.

Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey
Attention: Parents and Carers of students in Grade 4 - 6
The wellbeing of our students is important to us.
To get an understanding of how students across Tasmania feel about their own wellbeing, students in Grade 4 - 6 at Burnie Primary School will be taking part in a wellbeing survey.
The Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey is part of the Department of Education’s Child and Student Wellbeing Strategy.
The details for the survey are:
When: 30 August to 3 September
Who: Grade 4 - 6
What do I need to do:
You and your child don’t need to do anything. The survey will be done in class time and will not require your child to prepare in any way.
A letter with more information has been sent home today with all Grade 4 - 6 students with a form to sign and return to the school if you do not want your child to participate in the survey. The Frequently Asked Questions link is provided below.

Student Donation to NW Support School
Lukada received a doll with Down Syndrome for her birthday and thought the children at North West Support School would be a perfect home for dolls such as hers. With the support of her family she went into town and using some of birthday money she purchased 2 dolls with Down Syndrome to donate to the school.
What an incredibly kind and generous act Lukada! You are a shining example of living Burnie Primary Schools values.
