Congratulations to Bailey, Sana, Sanuli, and Jana who competed in the Maths Relay competition over the weekend. There were some very challenging questions, so to finish in the top 5 is a fantastic effort!
Also, congratulations to our students selected for the Darwin team. They will be competing in the Launceston Sports exchange on the 9th September.

See Saw
Burnie Primary has purchased a license for See Saw which gives us more options when using the app. However previous posts sent to families will no longer be available. We recommend that you save any pictures or posts you wish to keep by the end of this week.
Saveloys and Footy Colours
Wednesday 22nd of September will be our Schools Footy Colours Day. We will also have available saveloys for students to order for lunch. The order forms for these will be sent home Monday 13th September.
School Socials
Don’t forget that we will have our school socials on Wednesday 8th September. Parents are welcome to stay and help if you have a WWVP card. Please let the office know your WWVP number either by phone or email if you would like to help.
COVID restrictions mean that only the children in the specified grades can attend each social.
To ensure students are safely returned to their families parents will need to collect their children from inside the JMC at the end of the evening.
We recommend that students bring along their water bottles.
Thank you to the Parents and Friends for helping with this event!
NAPLAN
Grades 3 and 5 have their NAPLAN results coming home today. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey
Attention: Parents and Carers of students in Grade 4 - 6
The wellbeing of our students is important to us.
To get an understanding of how students across Tasmania feel about their own wellbeing, students in Grade 4 - 6 at Burnie Primary School will be taking part in a wellbeing survey.
The Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey is part of the Department of Education’s Child and Student Wellbeing Strategy.
The details for the survey are:
When: 30th August to 3rd September
Who: Grade 4 - 6
What do I need to do:
You and your child don’t need to do anything. The survey will be done in class time and will not require your child to prepare in any way.
A letter with more information has already been sent home with all Grade 4 - 6 students with a form to sign and return to the school if you do not want your child to participate in the survey. The Frequently Asked Questions link is provided below.
SWES_FAQs_for_Parents_and_Carers_Information.pdf
If you would like further information, please contact Mrs. Rochelle Cunningham
Thank you for supporting us to ensure that all our learners are safe, feel supported and are able to flourish, so they can engage in learning.
It is important that your child feels connected to the school and their class whilst they are convalescing. If a student has been away for two consecutive days the teacher will touch base with the family on the third day. This is a way to support your child to stay connected. This may be a phone call, or via seesaw message. If you would like support before then, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the office.
If your child is away for more than two consecutive days we ask that you provide the school with a medical certificate or statutory declaration. A statutory declaration form is available from the front office.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
The Levy Invoices were sent out in Term 1. Could we ask you to make payment at the earliest, along with any outstanding Grade 5 & Grade 6 Camp fees?
The invoice provides the Bpay code, however you are still welcome to make payment via Eftpos or cash to the School office.
You are welcome to arrange payment plans with our School Business Manager.
Please contact the school office should you have any questions regarding the invoices.
Subs for You - Commencing Wednesday 8 September
We are very excited now to be able to offer Subway each Wednesday commencing 8 September. Subway Friday is still available.
The Subway Burnie Primary program is proving very popular, so we ask you to check your order is for the correct date required and that you have received a confirmation of the order.
If your child is absent on the day, please make direct contact with Subway Burnie Shop 03 6431 2342 to cancel the order, if possible, otherwise the office can hold for you to collect after 12.30pm.
The following students represented Burnie Primary School at the North West Maths Relay held at Burnie High on Sunday 29 August. The relays see teams of four students take on mathematical problems of increasing difficulty as they race to beat other competitors and the clock.
Well done ! Bailey, Sana, Sanuli and Jana
Pizza and Paper Plane Night - The Fathering Project
What a fantastic turn out for our Pizza and Paper Planes event on Tuesday night. It was wonderful to see such a high number of dads, father figures and children involved in designing and creating paper planes and connecting with other families. There was a variety of design and flight challenges to participate in that generated some healthy competition among both the adults and the children. A big thankyou to our Dad’s group leaders, Mathew, Luke, Lyndon, Craig and Brendon for their organisation of this event. If you would like to be involved in the planning and organisation of events please contact the Burnie Primary School office and leave your name and number and one of our group leaders will contact you. We have created a Facebook group to share thoughts and ideas about upcoming events and seek feedback on these ideas. Please search for Burnie Primary (The Fathering Project)

Grade 3 - Grade 6 NW Basketball Championships Letter
Please review letter which was sent home with each student on 1 September 2021.
On the 17th of September, Burnie Primary School will be holding a pyjama day. On this day, students will have the opportunity to wear their pyjamas to school. Pyjama Day is held to raise awareness about children in care, and to help donate money for resources, like books and clothes. We kindly ask you to bring a gold coin donation to school, which will be donated to the Pyjama Foundation.
(We ask you to not wear/bring your Oodie, as they are quite big and may be a distraction to school learning.)
