Thank-you to all in our Burnie Primary School community for supporting us in adhering to the current restrictions that are in place for schools for the first 5 weeks of this term. These restrictions have been put in place by Public Health to help limit the interactions of adults and students across grades to aid in lessening the possibility of positive cases throughout the school and to minimise the impact this may have on student learning. We are looking forward to welcoming back programs such as our Launching into Learning programs and the Fathering Project that bring our school community together.
Another one of these events is our Athletic Carnival. Traditionally this carnival provided us with an opportunity to showcase the athletic abilities of our Grade 3-6 students especially, and to select our inter-school team for the NWPSSA carnival in Penguin, and importantly, to bring our school together and have some fun! The current restrictions on schools state that if schools were to conduct a school carnival then no parents or other adult spectators would be allowed to attend. As a result, we are postponing our BPS athletics carnival until later in the year so that parents and adult spectators can join in the fun with us as a school community. Trials will be run for the Grade 3-6 students to ensure we can still participate in the NWPSSA carnival in Penguin which is scheduled for week 8 on Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 March March 2022.
During weeks 6-10 of this term, teachers will be in contact to have a conversation with you about your child’s learning progress and their application to learning and wellbeing. This may be a phone call, Teams meeting, or face to face meeting at a mutually agreeable time. We look forward to continuing this conversation about your child’s learning throughout the year.
During this time especially, communication is important to us. We encourage everyone to download the Burnie Primary SchoolZine app to ensure we are able to push out notifications as required. You will also be receiving information on our newly updated SeeSaw app that will provide you with the opportunity to communicate directly with your child’s teacher/s and will be used to share with you the evidence of learning your child will be achieving throughout the year. Please return the completed SeeSaw consent form as soon as possible to ensure you receive the maximum notifications possible. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any information that may help us provide the best possible learning outcome for your child.
The School Association and Parents and Friends are two groups that meet only once or twice a term but provide valuable feedback, support and guidance as to how the school runs, and how our school community as a whole can support all students, and future students achieve to their ultimate potential here at Burnie Primary School. Please consider taking on a position either on the P&F or School Association. It is a valuable learning experience for you as parents or community members in having a say in how we can make Burnie Primary School the best possible place to learn! School Association Nomination forms are included in this week’s newsletter. Nominate yourself or someone you know who would be great in this role on our School Association.
