Moderation Day – student free day – Friday 7th June
Tomorrow, our teachers will join with colleagues from Burnie High School, Cooee Primary School and Romaine Park Primary School for our annual moderation day. This is a great opportunity for teachers to work together to make consistent and comparable judgements on student learning. This also means our students get an extra-long weekend!
Save the date - Learning Conversations
Parent Teacher (Kinder-Grade 6) will occur between Monday 24th and Thursday 27th June, with our late-night session on Wednesday 26th. We would like to strongly encourage students in Grades 2-6 to attend learning conversations with their parent / guardian and teacher. Students in Kinder, Prep and Grade 1 can attend these conversations if families feel this would be beneficial. Members of the leadership team and specialist teachers are also available for appointments during these dates. All conversations will be held in classrooms.
Kindergarten learning conversations will involve sharing information regarding students’ progress against the Kindergarten Development Check markers.
Bookings for Kindergarten to Grade 6 can be made now by either
- Clicking on this link https://outlook.office365commowaa/calendarParentTeacherMeetinggtaseduuonmicrosofttcomm/bookings/
- or by contacting our School Administration Office either by phone on 64 333 655 or in person.
Our online booking system allows for ‘self-booking’ of appointments and you will receive an email notification to confirm your bookings. This streamlines the process for all involved (teachers and parents/carers) to negotiate and coordinate family bookings. If you require any support or assistance in booking appointments, please make contact with us. We are here to help with the new system.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time to collect your child’s report from our office. We invite you to make your way to our Makers Space for some light refreshments while you read your child’s report and wait for your booking time. We love talking with you about your child and the more teachers know the more we can support their learning. Let’s work together so that your child can get the most out of their school experience.

Welcome Professional Placement Students
I am in my second year at UTAS studying to be a teacher and I am also planning to study speech pathology after I finish my degree. I currently help as a teacher aide at a school and I am very excited to be working with Ms Page. I've already loved my time working in the 3/4D class and I can't wait to get to know some of the other students.
Hello,
I am Miss Whitehouse and I am in 5/6B with Mrs Smith. I'm in my second year at university studying to be a teacher. I'm very excited to get to know everyone in and around the school.
On Tuesday 28th May 38 students from Grades 3 - 6 travelled to the Ulverstone Football Ground for the annual Northwest Primary School Sports Association (NWPSSA) Cross Country Carnival. I would like to congratulate all our student representatives who gave their best effort in their events and cheered loudly for each other! They all represented our school with pride.
Stand out performances: Micah D 5th, Jack S 4th, Kaden R 2nd, Murphie B 5th, Louis S 2nd and Zarin W 9th.
Burnie Primary had 26 out of our 38 students place within the top 50 which is an amazing effort and resulted in us placing second in division A.
Celebrating the Value of Responsibility
Students have continued building their knowledge and understanding of their 'Rights and Responsibilities'. As part of the Early Childhood morning meeting this week, our Grade 1 students shared their work on 'Children have the right to choose their own friends and join groups'.
The Student Council are organising a donations/fundraising day to support Tassie Mum's. Tassie mums is a not-for-profit led group that is passionate about providing essential items to babies and children in need. They collect donations of new and preloved baby and children's clothing and other small items. Donations are carefully sorted and bundled by volunteers and then "rehomed" via social service organisations to vulnerable and at-risk children state wide.
We will be hosting a ThinkUKnow presentation on Wednesday, 19th June and all parents, carers and teachers are encouraged to attend.
ThinkUKnow Australia is an evidence based education program delivered nationally to prevent online child sexual exploitation.
ThinkUKnow Australia is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft Australia, Datacom and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. The program is delivered in collaboration with policing partners New South Wales Police Force, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police, South Australia Police, Tasmania Police, Western Australia Police, as well as Neighbourhood Watch Australasia.
The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member and an industry volunteer. The presentation is pro-technology and addresses topics including self-generated child abuse material, online grooming, sexual extortion, and importantly encourages help seeking behaviour.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about young people and the online environment, and how you can help them to be safe and responsible users of technology.
For more information, you can visit www.thinkuknow.org.au or contact the school office.
Please RSVP if you would like to attend by contacting the school office by Monday, 17th June.
