As we move forward, we will be implementing SchoolStream in 2025, which will replace the Schoolzine app. More information about this transition will be shared soon. Replacing Schoolzine with SchoolStream will significantly enhance our communication capabilities in several key areas:
- Absentee: SchoolStream will streamline absentee reporting, making it easier for parents to notify the school about their child's absence with just a few taps.
- Latest Newsletter: With SchoolStream, newsletters will be delivered directly to your device in real time, ensuring that you receive the most current information and updates as soon as they are published.
- Newsletter Archive: The archive feature will allow you to easily access past newsletters, providing a comprehensive record of communications, ensuring you never miss important information.
School Calendar: The SchoolStream calendar will offer an interactive platform where you can view upcoming events, deadlines and activities, with the ability to add them directly to your personal calendar for better organisation.
We believe these enhancements will improve our ability to keep families informed and engaged, making it easier for everyone to stay connected with our school community. More details will be shared as we approach the transition to SchoolStream!

I am thrilled to take a moment to celebrate the outstanding success of our students in the recent school basketball tournament. We had four incredible teams representing our school and their hard work, dedication, and sportspersonship truly shone throughout the competition.
A special congratulations goes to our Year 6 boys' team, who demonstrated remarkable teamwork and determination to secure the title of runners up. Their effort not only brought pride to our school but also exemplified the Burnie Primary School way through their teamwork, resilience and positivity.
Tomorrow, we are thrilled to see 42 of our students participating in the All Schools Triathlon! We wish each of them the best of luck as they showcase their hard work, dedication, and athleticism. Whether they're swimming, cycling, or running, we know they will give it their all and represent our school with pride. Let's cheer them on and celebrate their efforts as they take on this exciting challenge! Good luck!
Thank you to all our athletes for your commitment, and to our coaches and supporters for encouraging our teams every step of the way. We are proud of each and every one of you!
Parking spaces at all entrances to school are in high demand at drop off time and particularly during the afternoon pick-up. Parents are asked when using these carpark areas to observe the reverse only signs and cross at marked crossing points. No RIGHT turn is allowed into van Diemens crescent out of the carpark. The carpark has one-way entry and exits points and all drivers are asked to drive only with the flow of traffic. Parking/stopping close to the crossing, over driveways and on nature strips is not allowed. All pedestrians should cross only at the crossing or marked crossing points. Thank you for taking care and supporting the safety of all pedestrians and road users.
Learning in Grade 3/4C and D
On Thursday the 7th of November, the 3/4 classes spent the day at Sister’s Beach for a Sea Country experience. The weather was kind to us, with beautiful clear skies, perfect for the day at the beach.
A big thank you to the parent/grandparent helpers that assisted us on the day. As well as Mrs Christina Schleich and Mr Josh Cocks who were our knowledgeable guides.

Sisters Beach
Splash!! The water splashed around at our feet while walking in the sandy, shallow creak.
On Thursday, all the 3 and 4s went to Sisters Beach to learn about Aboriginals. We left at 8:45am and arrived at Sisters Beach at about 9:30am.
At Sisters Beach we got to make huts, have icy poles, play at the park, go beachcombing, go in the ocean and dig holes in the sand.
On Thursday the 7th of November Joshua (Jakob's dad) and Mrs Schleich were there to teach us about Aboriginals. All the Grade 3/4 teachers were there and some mums and dads came to help out. There were lots of people in the one place (Sisters Beach).
We went to Sisters Beach to learn about what it’s like and how the Aboriginal people survived.
I really enjoyed spending time at Sisters Beach, it was super fun and I would definitely go back.

Sisters Beach Excursion Recount
Clack, Clack, Clack. HUFF PUFF. “OUUUUCH!” I hurt my foot with a log. We were making our huts on Sisters Beach.
On Thursday 7th of November, the Grade 3/4s, some of their parents, the 3/4 teachers, Mrs Schleich, Josh who is Jakob’s dad, and some Tasmanian Aboriginal Rangers went to Sisters Beach. The 3/4s were going there for an excursion for an activity based on Aboriginal history.
After crossing the creek 3/4C and D went for a beachcomb. Beachcombing is walking across the beach, looking at things and collecting things. While we were running across the sand the sand squeaked a lot.
After that we crossed the creek again and we were in 3 groups. I was in group 1. In our groups we built hut. My group also had the biggest hut, and it had a campfire. While 3/4D were building huts, 3/4C were going in the sea and digging holes.
Then we went to the sea and Mrs Schleich told us to look out to sea and tell us to tell her what we saw. We saw an island called Sisters Island and on the side of the beach we saw some hills called Sisters Hills. They sort of looked like mountains. We were also in our 3 groups. 1 group went to the sea and the other 2 groups got to dig holes. There already were 2 holes there.
Then we ate our lunch, had our lunch play and then hopped on the bus to take us back to school. The playground had a lot of equipment. There even was a tractor! (Not a real tractor that moves).

Sisters Beach
Crash, swish, woosh as the waves crashed into the shore.
On Thursday the 7th of November all the 3/4s went to Sisters Beach to learn about Aboriginal culture with Mrs Schleich and Joshua.
When we got on the beach, we all walked across the creek to the rocks to go beachcombing I didn’t find anything good, but I did find a good spot to sit.
When it was time to go back from beachcombing, we met up with Joshua so he could talk to us about Aboriginal huts. After Joshua finished talking about the huts, we had the chance to make an Aboriginal hut out of sticks and rocks.
When we finished our huts, we all ran over to Mrs Schleich to walk in the water, While my group was waiting for our turn, we all dug holes in the sand.

Sisters Beach
At Sisters Beach we went beachcombing and in the rock pools I found a Mudskipper. It was about 65mm long and 23mm wide. When Hudson and Boston picked it up it bit them but when Andy picked it up it didn’t bite him.
After that we made huts out of animal skins and branches, then we played in the wet sand our feet sunk into the sand when we trod in it. We also dug trenches and when we were digging, we found a crab that Boston and Max decided to play with. It grabbed hold of Boston! As we where going we saw a sea eagle flying in circles over a little island about 100 metres off land called Sisters Island.
