Well, what a huge Term of learning!! This Term has just flown by, but as the old saying goes, ‘time flies when you’re having fun’. Fun and learning are integral components for student engagement. As teachers, we aim to engage every student every day in their learning. This requires careful planning for individual student success and achievement. Teachers here at Burnie Primary School show care and pride in student learning as a result of this careful planning. We have certainly had many opportunities to celebrate learning and achievements this term!
On behalf of the Burnie Primary School community, I would like to thank Miss Meaghan Hosking for her contribution to the learners in 5H and to our wider school community. Meaghan has been able to provide a smooth transition for students while Miss Hanson has been on long service leave. We welcome Miss Hanson back next term to continue the achievements in learning. We also farewell our two visiting Korean teachers Eunji Yang (Chloe) and Jungrim Ko (Lima) who have been working with our Grade 6 students this term. I know they have certainly learnt a great deal, and have contributed to the learning of Grade 6 students and teachers, especially with their inquiry on Asia this term.
There have been a number of proposed changes to school bus routes for next year for Burnie Primary School students. Please take the opportunity to provide your feedback on this review, not just the proposed changes to the routes but also the drop off points for students of a morning. We encourage you to visit www.transport.tas.gov.au/haveyoursay to review the proposed timetables and provide feedback before 27 October 2019.
I wish everyone well for the school holiday break and I look forward to catching up with students from Monday 14th October, to hear about the amazing learning opportunities they have been involved with over the school holiday break!

UTAS Pre-Service Teachers visit 3F and 3W at Burnie Primary School
On Tuesday, 24th September, 2019, 21 teachers from UTAS visited our classes and the makerspace. Mr Woodard welcomed to the teachers to our school and they were very excited to be here and working with ‘real’ students.
They had each prepared some learning around native animals – their habitats, and the food chains they were part of.
Some people used powerpoint presentations, some students used Scootle programs, others had games and colouring in activities for us to do. We also had a go at naming an Aussie Native Animal for each letter of the alphabet. This was really hard to do!!
We had an awesome time, and we hope that we get the chance to work with them again.
3F and 3W
