Our students (and staff) looked so neat and tidy, ready for our school photos this week but it wasn’t just how great our students looked in their uniform that was a highlight! The feedback from the photographers on our student’s behaviour was excellent! The photographers commented on how well our students listened, how polite and well-mannered they all were and how successful the day was.
Congratulations to all our students for upholding our school value, Respect!
Assembly
We are looking forward to inviting the parents/ guardians of our Prep, Years 2, 4, and 6 award recipients to our assembly next week. Teachers will be in contact with those families by the end of the week. Winners will be published in the next newsletter.
We will also be presenting Home Reading certificates.
Cross Country
We are excited about our schools Cross Country event next week and we have our fingers and toes crossed that we have fine weather. Our course has changed slightly this year and we would like to thank Hellyer College for the use of their space.
Mr Dome has more information about the day including COVID compliant procedures, in this newsletter.
The Australian Curriculum
Have a say in what your child learns.
All students from Prep to Year 10 in Tasmanian schools are taught the Australian Curriculum. The Curriculum is currently being reviewed and refined to ensure that it continues to be world class and best meet the needs of our students in our changing world.
Families and school community members are invited to contribute to the review. This is an important opportunity and we encourage you to visit the website and have your say in what your child learns.
The website is open from 29 April – 8 July.

Grade 6 Visit to Hellyer College
On Monday 3 May grade 6 students visited Hellyer College and University of Tasmania Cradle Coast Campus (UTas) as part of The Dream Big Higher Education pathways program.
The idea was to show and explain to students what future educational pathways are available for them on the north west coast. Students participated in activities at both venues. At Hellyer some students participated in a tourism class investigating other cultures by cooking some fried rice and a Japanese class where they made origami and played a greeting game. While at UTas, students investigated engineering through making paper planes and made bracelets as part of the Aboriginal Education unit.

Grade 6s have been investigating different creative writing techniques and including it in the poetry that we have been writing. Here are some samples of some simile poems that we wrote.
